Took the words right out of my mouth

Fear: The world will still consist of mostly instances.

Hope: That the art style, especially concerning the characters, will be similar to GW1, and similarly good.

Fear: That anything Bazompora hopes for will come true.

Well, that and I also fear that the fact that I've played more/less than my friends will suddenly be important when we want to adventure together. Levels FTL!

That's what the planned sidekick feature is for. To boost your level to one less than that of your friend.

Hope: That they will create a great storyline to go with all the rest of the stuff that sounds cool at the moment, and that that storyline will be different, or at least start differently, depending on your character's race. And also what Kyp Jade said.

Fear: That they will merge some of the professions, and not keep some of the abilities of the old ones in the new one (since that didn't make a lot of sense, even to me, I'll clarify. Say they merge the necro and ritualist, since both work with things that have died. My fear is that they will keep some of the aspects of both classes, like minions and spirit spamming, but get rid of others, like channeling. That's just an example of course, but you get the general idea).

Hope: That levels will be completely removed from the game(attribute point quests ftw!)

Fear: That levels will be similar to most of the new titles and the game will become more about leveling up than actually getting better at the game.

Hope: More love for PvE. More content and class balance mored geared towards PvE, e.g. for Assassins and Mesmers.
Fear: Dumbed down super easy and grind heavy gameplay, basically just another grinder MMO.

This includes their unlimited levels, bad idea...!!

Hope: The follow LOTRO's way of doing persistent worlds in a good way with LOTRO's persistent world flaws fixed.

Fear: That they give in to the [expletive]s here and don't make it persistent

Hope: will be 100% soloable

Fear: PVE will not be as good as expected. Lets say they put in 40 levels and it is possible to get them all in a week, or if it takes too long to get them. They need a good balance with the extra levels and persistant world.

Hope: I can play the game like any other game. Difficulty progression and situations where certain things occur in a way I can take my time doing without rushing blind and deaf.

Hope2: Hall of Monuments will give not just items, but discounts on things in the game like the cost of armor.

Fear: The main reason GW2 is being made and not the "Utopia Project" is because World of Warcraft is planning something at the same time.

Fear2: GW2 will have Shiro Tagachi in it.

Fear3: The Sylvari are a ripoff of Night Elves.

Hope: the non-instanced world adds to immersion and sense of scale; the separation of PvE and PvP allow both to be great.

Fear: The non-instanced world leads to grind, tedium and random asshats getting in the way while questing; the separation of PvE and PvP lead to even worse "elite area" cheese and forced grouping.

Hope: Balanced and diverse skills that don't force cookie cutter builds and encourage class/skill combo diversity

Fear: Title grinding will once again try to IMMULATE actual character development, in fact, i fear grinding of any sort that would require me to complete a certain "dungeon" or elite area. Skill>time spent anet! remember what you started with!

Can't blame him for fearing the unworldly extent of that.

Hope:
Any character getting any skill and being able to do and reach anything, egardless of professions. It would be great to be able to change even primary profession, so people would just one character of each race: one human, one Charr, one Asura, one Norn, etc... and they next campaigns add new races that can also learn everything.
Same professions for al races, just with different names: Charr Shaman, Asura Priest, Human Monk, Norn Quack, Silvary Curer. You'll have to go to Charr lands and befriend the charr to learn their skills, but you could get tham all with the same character.

Fear: Character limitations. Being able to learn only some things with each character, and making different professions for each race with different skills.
Not being able to have one character of each type with all skills in the same account.

Fear: everybody will be rushing the game, hoping to be the first to find that uber farming spot/ultra rare skin/super hard mission to run.
Nobody is gonna play the game like at the launch of GW1. Too much "Previous knowledge" to enjoy gw2 as a fresh new game. It will be a huge rush with constant e-peen contests.

Catch the non-public betas, if they do one beta weekend a month again for pre-orders. After the betas, everything gets wiped so th comunity usualy stops to smell the roses. You'll also be surprised how much of the worst part of the comunity doesnt pre-order.

But, I hear you. Especialy PvP, I miss fighting in the Tombs(now HA) before builds became solid.

Another of my big hopes is kinda similar to this. I hope that the areas won't require or call for certain professions, and that healing will just be a bonus and not a requirement as it is in Hellgate: London (while it is a bit buggy and disappointing, there's a lot of things to be learned from that game.)

Hope: that it's everything good in GW1 -- times Ten, with inovations that revolutionize the genre.

Fear: That it's taking steps backwards to try and compete with the Asian Grinder.
